Statement for The Welch Foundation Scholarship

IMPORTANT: Applicants planning to major in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering should complete this section. If you do not meet that criteria, you may skip this section.

The Welch Foundation Scholarships will be awarded each year for a four-year enrollment period, as long as the minimum criteria are met. Each scholarship provides $3,500 a year (or $1,750 per semester) for the four-year period and is restricted to undergraduate work.

Students interested in applying for this scholarship must also include a written statement with their TILF scholarship application expressing their desire to major in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering. Welch applicants must plan on majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering as an undergraduate student. Recipients must also attend one of the colleges or universities in the state of Texas approved by The Welch Foundation. These approved colleges and universities are listed on the UIL website here. Upon enrollment in one of the approved colleges, recipients must also provide verification of their major. This statement can be obtained from an undergraduate advisor or department administrator and can be sent to Brenda Baxendale in The Texas Interscholastic League Foundation at e-mail bbaxendale@mail.utexas.edu.

Statement for The Red Oak Foundation Scholarship

IMPORTANT: All applicants planning on teaching in the public school system, grades K-12, should complete this section. If you do not meet that criteria, you may skip this section.

The Red Oak Foundation Scholarships are four-year awards; scholarship amount is $4,800 ($1200 per academic year or $600 each semester) as long as the minimum criteria is met. Red Oak applicants must fill out this section and submit it with the TILF scholarship application. Recipients must attend an accredited college or university in the state of Texas.
